    Port Moresby, PAPUA NEW GUINEA – The United Nations in Papua New Guinea in cooperation with the Population Media Center (PMC) is pleased to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Colgate-Palmolive. Colgate-Palmolive has signed on as a private sector sponsor of two social change radio serial dramas to be developed for public broadcast in Papua New Guinea in Pidgin and English.

The UN conference on Youth, Innovation and Development had three major aims. First, “raising awareness within the international development community of the fact that youth has indeed a great potential for change and with proper support, it can have a major contribution to the world.” Second, to showcase some of these leaders and their projects and third, to celebrate the fact that this year’s World Development Report has Youth as its theme.

The 63rd United Nations Annual Department of Public Information (DPI) / Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) Conference will be held in Melbourne, Australia, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 30 August to 1 September 2010. The general theme of the conference is “Advance Global Health: Achieve the MDGs.” This is the third time the conference is held outside UN Headquarters in New York.

The XVIII International AIDS Conference, AIDS 2010, being held from 18-23 July in Vienna, will have as a main theme Rights Here, Right Now. With this overarching theme, it aims to emphasize the central importance of protecting and promoting human rights as a prerequisite to a successful response to HIV. The right to dignity and self-determination for key affected populations, to equal access to health care and life-saving prevention and treatment programmes, and the right to interventions based on evidence rather than ideology, are all incorporated in this demand for action.
United Nations MDG Summit on 20-22 September 2010 in New York (New York, from 20 September 2010 to 22 September 2010) by admin
Following on a proposal by the UN Secretary-General, the General Assembly has decided to convene an MDG summit (High-level Plenary Meeting) on 20-22 September, with the primary objective to accelerate progress towards all the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015, taking into account the progress made towards the internationally agreed development goals (A/RES/64/184). The summit is expected to undertake a comprehensive review of successes, best practices and lessons learned, obstacles and gaps, challenges and opportunities, “leading to concrete strategies for action”.

The Stanley Park Ecology Society is looking for volunteers for their fun-filled program! Deadline to apply May 29th 2010 Urban Camping is an exciting program which introduces inner city kids to an overnight camping experience in Stanley Park (see attachment) - they are taught basic camping skills such as putting up tents, cooking meals on camp stoves, survival skills, knot tying and local natural history. We need several volunteers with good conversational English skills to assist with the program.
